Mixderm – 15g Topical Cream
Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.
Intro: Mixderm is a versatile "3-in-1" combination therapy produced by Global Napi Pharmaceuticals (GNP). It is a highly popular local alternative to international brands like Quadriderm. It combines a potent steroid (Betamethasone), a broad-spectrum antibiotic (Gentamicin), and a strong antifungal (Clotrimazole). This "all-in-one" approach is designed to treat inflamed skin conditions where a bacterial or fungal infection is either present or likely to develop.
Indications:
Infected Dermatitis: Red, itchy skin that has become infected due to scratching.
Tinea (Fungal Infections): Effective against athlete's foot, jock itch, and ringworm, especially when the area is very inflamed.
Complex Rashes: Skin rashes in moist areas (groin, underarms) where bacteria and fungi thrive together.
Chronic Eczema: Managing flare-ups that are resistant to simple steroid creams.
How to Use:
Dosage: Apply a thin layer to the affected skin 2 times daily (morning and evening).
Application: Clean and dry the area thoroughly before use. Gently massage the cream until it is absorbed.
Duration: Typically used for 5 to 7 days. Long-term use should be avoided to prevent skin thinning.
Crucial Rules:
No "Open" Wounds: Do not apply to deeply broken skin or open ulcers, as Gentamicin and Betamethasone can be absorbed too quickly into the bloodstream.
Facial Caution: Avoid using near the eyes or for long periods on the face, as it can cause skin thinning or "spider veins."
The "Fungal" Trap: If used on a pure fungal infection without enough duration, the steroid may make the rash look better while the fungus actually spreads. Always finish the prescribed course.
Pregnancy/Nursing: Should be used only under medical supervision, as the ingredients can be absorbed systemically.
Generic International Brands: Quadriderm (Reference Brand), Triderm.
