Concor COR – 2.5mg Tablets
Available at Pharmaegy Pharmacy. Use as directed by your doctor.
Intro: Concor COR is a high-quality cardiovascular medication produced by Amoun (under license from Merck). Its active ingredient is Bisoprolol fumarate, a highly selective "beta-blocker." It works by blocking certain nerve impulses to the heart, which slows down the heart rate and makes the heart beat more efficiently and with less pressure. The "COR" version specifically refers to the lower doses (like 2.5mg) often used to protect the heart in chronic conditions.
Indications:
Hypertension: Lowering high blood pressure to prevent strokes and heart attacks.
Chronic Heart Failure: Strengthening the heart's performance over time (usually used alongside other medications).
Angina Pectoris: Preventing chest pain by reducing the heart's workload and oxygen demand.
Tachycardia: Controlling a fast or irregular heartbeat to keep it within a healthy range.
How to Use:
Dosage: Usually one tablet daily, preferably in the morning. Your doctor may start you on a lower dose and gradually increase it.
Consistency: Take it at the same time every day with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.
Do Not Chew: Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew it.
Crucial Rules:
Never Stop Suddenly: This is the most important rule. Stopping Concor abruptly can cause a "rebound" effect, leading to dangerously high blood pressure or a heart attack. Always taper off under a doctor’s guidance.
Monitor Pulse: Since it slows the heart, check your pulse regularly. If it drops below 50–60 beats per minute and you feel dizzy, contact your doctor.
Asthma Warning: Use with extreme caution if you have asthma or lung disease, as beta-blockers can sometimes trigger breathing difficulties.
Diabetes: It can "mask" the symptoms of low blood sugar (like a fast heartbeat), so diabetics should monitor their glucose levels more closely.
Generic International Brands: Zebeta, Bisocor, Bisoprolol.
